General Healthy Eating Habits:
- Eat in a quiet atmosphere
- Do not eat too quickly of too slowly
- Eat to about 2/3 of your capacity
- Do not eat before the previous meal is digested
- Avoid large amounts of liquids with meals
- Do not mix milk with salty or sour foods
- Diet should include all 6 tastes
- Distinguish desires that may be non-life supporting
- Lunch should be the main meal of the day
- Lacto – Vegetarian diet is most sattvic diet
- Avoid cheese and yogurt at night
- Honey should never be heated
- Avoid ice cold beverages or foods, they interfere with digestion
- Take a few minutes after eating
- Chew well, the digestive process starts in the mouth
- Ayurveda does not favor large amounts of raw foods
- Do not eat right before going to bed
- Do not eat when emotionally upset
